拉荷是布農族的抗日勇士。拉荷取阿雷為妻,後來人們稱他為Laho Ali(拉荷阿雷)。臺灣有許多樟腦、煤礦等豐富資源。日本政府為了這些資源,不斷往深山開發,壓迫原住民的生存空間。當時日本政府提出許多治理原住民的政策,這些政策強制改變了原住民的生存方式,加劇了原住民與日本政府的衝突。以前人們需要打獵才能生活,但日本政府卻要收繳他們的槍枝。這讓布農族人非常憤怒。拉荷阿雷的兄長很生氣,為此跟警察吵架,被警察關入牢中。等到他被放出來的時候,已經身負重傷,沒過多久就過世了。由於族人長期遭受日本政府的欺壓,最後他們再也無法忍受,決定反抗日本政府。他們經常騷擾、襲擊日本警局。日本政府不堪其擾,他們以和解為由,邀請部落的族人相聚。族人們高興的前往,卻發現日本人並沒有要和解。赴約的族人就這麼被日本政府處決了。多年下來的衝突與仇恨最終讓拉荷阿雷決心反抗日本政府。拉荷阿雷帶著族人遷至更高更遠的地方。那裡地勢高又危險,日本人無法輕易靠近。日本政府抓不到荷阿雷,非常傷腦筋,興建道路的工程也因為族人反抗而趨緩。布農族的抗爭持續非常多年,隨著道路開通,拉荷阿雷知道,如果繼續抗爭,只會不利於族群的延續。日本也因為大量的損失,決定向拉荷阿雷提出和解的請求,期盼結束多年的衝突。1933年拉荷阿雷和日本政府和解,結束多年的抗戰。他提出許多要求,確保族人不被日本政府報復,可以繼續生活。拉荷阿雷被族人譽為反抗日本政府的勇士。他憑藉著勇氣與智慧,帶領族人捍衛族群的文化與尊嚴。
